Day 21 of the Free Yogis challenge is Trust. Naturally, it seemed like a good time to give Acroyoga a shot for the first time; and who better to base me than my boyfriend!? This pose is called Front Bird, or Front Plank, and is one of the basic poses in Acroyoga. While each pose we attempted today was pretty rough, we ended up on the floor laughing anyway, and I’m honestly so fortunate to have someone I love and trust so much in my life.
And the little guy on the side is our pup, Max. He’s pretty unimpressed with us because he thinks that both the yoga mat and all of our attention belong to him (which is half true).
"For the record, feminism by definition is: ‘The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes.’
I started questioning gender-based assumptions when at eight I was confused at being called “bossy,” because I wanted to direct the plays we would put on for our parents—but the boys were not.
When at 14 I started being sexualized by certain elements of the press.
When at 15 my girlfriends started dropping out of their sports teams because they didn’t want to appear “muscly.”
When at 18 my male friends were unable to express their feelings.
I decided I was a feminist and this seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. Apparently I am among the ranks of women whose expressions are seen as too strong, too aggressive, isolating, anti-men and, unattractive.
Why is the word such an uncomfortable one?”
For day 19 of the Free Yogis challenge, Grounding, I chose Tri Pada Adho Mukha Svanasana, or Three Legged Downward Facing Dog, with the hips open variation. In yoga, they key to each pose is to stay grounded through your hand and feet; I find that to be especially true in this particular pose, as if I lift in either hand or my foot, I will lose balance and topple over.
Day 17 of the Free Yogis challenge was Love Yourself. I chose to show Dandayamana Dhanurasana, or Standing Bow Pose because I really love how much progress I’ve made in this pose. My leg still isn’t perfectly straight, but it’s getting there at the pace that’s right for me.

It’s days like this that I like to remember that the Irish government are ever proud of the Spire of Dublin.
It’s literally a 400 ft metal spike sticking out of the ground. It was supposed to be done for the new millennium but they didn’t start building it until 2002.
And it’s supposed to be self-cleaning but it doesn’t work and there’s no way to clean it.
not to mention it’s ‘unofficial name’
